Question:
If backsliders want to come back to the church, should they start the plan of salvation over again or just repent and try once again to live a holy and righteous life? What should I do before it is too late?
Answer:
It is not necessary for a person who has slipped away from the Lord to be baptized again. In addition to repentance, I believe you will need straight and strong accountability. Find some trustworthy fellow-believers who will meet with you regularly (at least weekly). You must honestly acknowledge all your struggles and failures to these people. If your assembly has home groups, this is the ideal place for on-going up-close accountability. If it does not, perhaps you can build your own home group.
